ENO Programme invites you to an exciting event. A new school year will be opened in a special way. We will plant trees at midday, in every corner of the world. The first trees will be planted at noon in
Trees will be planted on September 22nd. This day unites us as it’s the day for autumnal equinox. The length of the day is the same everywhere, with everyone worldwide receiving 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night. As the international day for peace falls a day before, this is also our contribution for peace.
Tree planting is important for us. Firstly, it reminds us of the nature and the importance of environmental protection. Secondly, it is a symbol for the international co-operation. We also want to spread the message of tolerance and peace. This event has become a success. Last year one thousand schools in 102 countries planted thousands of trees during the day.
Your contribution is important. If you plant trees with us you will be a part of ENO 2008 Tree Planting Campaign. Our aim to plant at least a million trees together. This campaign is connected to Billion Tree Campaign by United Nations Environment Programme.
We also have other activities for this day. Play our special play for the occasion (translated into over 40 languages!), sing our tree planting songs, dance and celebrate.
How to get involved? Af first register your school/group online, by 20th of September 2008. You will receive login and password via email in order to enter the information about your event to ENO Tree Database. Each participating school or youth group will receive a certificate. Find instructions, more information and material for the day on the web. Welcome to build a more sustainable future with us!
